Why growth and reproduction cannot be the defining characteristics of living organisms?
Answers
Explanation:
i. Growth is also exhibited by non-living objects. It is by accumulation of material on the surface. Thus, it cannot be taken as the defining property of living organisms.
ii. Living organisms like mules, sterile worker bees, infertile human couples, etc. cannot reproduce. Thus, reproduction also cannot be the defining character of living organisms.

Heya
Here's ur answer..
Growth!!
um.... It's not a defining character..
Bcoz for example..
If we collect some sand and add some sand over it.. It's growth! It also applies for non living organisms... So, It's not a defining character of living organisms..
Talking about Reproduction.. There are living organisms which can't reproduce also.. Example - sterile human couples, worker bees.. This doesn't mean they are non livings..!
so, Reproduction also can't be taken as a defining property..
Hope it helps you!
