Answer:
Why is the growth of Nationalism in the colonies linked to an anti colonial
movement? Ans.
1. Nationalism is a strong feeling of Oneness which the people feel when they live under the
same political, social and economic system, when they share the same aspirations while
living in a common land. More often the growth of modern nationalism is intimately
connected to the anti colonial movement.
2. This is because of the fact that colonial power exploited the people of their colonies and
led to poverty and miseries. So people decided to throw off the foreign rulers.
3. The sense of being oppressed under colonialism provided a shared Bond that tied many
different groups together.
4. Each class and group felt that the effect of colonialism was different, their experiences
were varied and their notions of freedom were not always the same.
5. The Congress under Mahatma Gandhi tried to forge these groups together within the one
united movement.
