When a bullet is fired from a gun, the gun exerts a force on the bullet in the forward direction bullet also exerts an equal and opposite force on the gun in the backward direction. Therefore a gun recoils when a bullet is fired from it.

So when the gun fires the billet some amount of force also is exerted on gun by the bullet which is equal and opposite to the derection of the force exerted by the gun to fire the bullet.
But as mass of bullet is much more than that of bullet gun therefore doesn't experience much force and that what a fun recoils.
