Why had labhu been given a place of honour in the society even through he belonged to low cast?

Explanation:

Labhu, the old shikari of my village, was a born liar. Therefore he had won the reputation of being the best storyteller in our parts. And though a sweeper of low caste, he was honoured by all and sundry.
