Bill decided not to fight for the sake of his son. His coming fight with Murphy was a big national event. Its promotional publicity was going to be nationwide through papers, TV, mail, etc. Bill’s photograph was going to be on all the hoardings and mails. Harold read his mail regularly. He would come to know about his father’s profession, which they had kept hidden from him painstakingly all these years. So Bill decided not to fight.
