Euglena is called both plant and animal because it can make their own food because it contains chlorophyll and as well as it can take its own food or prey through its gullet.

EUGLENA HAS BEEN CLAASIFIED AS A SPECIES OF PLANT AS WELL AS ANIMAL BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
It contains CHLOROPLASTS AND IS HAVING PHOTOAUTOTROPHIC MODE OF NUTRITION.
This means Euglena can produce glucose by photosynthesis.
Movement is through flagellum and can eat other organisms in order to provide energy.
