India has rich heritage of flora and fauna because of the following factors (a) It has a very large geographical area which includes the mountains, the Northern plains, plateaus and also islands.

India is a country which is situated in the South Asian continent. It is a geographycally and economically important country of the world.

India is also the second most populated country in the world but along with the human population India is also a rich heritage of flora and fauna.

Reasons for this huge diversity of flora and fauna:

1) India is a large country with a humungous latitudinal extent.

2)India has vast numbers of vegetation types.

3)India has several climate zones.


The points metioned above are the main reason for India's vast amount of flora and fauna.
