Why has India chosen 821/2 east longitude as the Standard meridian

Since many longitudes passes trough India.To avoid confusions in time,the longitude that passes through the middle of the country has been selected as the standard meridian of India.There is also a convention agreed by all countries of the world that standard meridian should be divisible by 7 degree 30.

from gujarat to arunachal pradesh is two hours time lag hence,time along the Standard meridian of India passing through mirzapur is taken as standard time in whole India
