You must be knowing about green revolution that occurred in 1970. India understood one thing that being a begging bowl does not serve it's purpose.
We have worked hard in our past to achieve food security under Dr. Swaminathan. This food security gave us a sense of pride. Today we are food surplus in most of commodity. That's why we never had issues like famine as occurred between 1958 to 1961 in China.
India is way ahead of its food security issues, the only problem is logistic and the plight of our farmers and we as a concerned citizen owe to them there life security.
I always thought about one thing, people who build our home do not have their home, people who produce food for us do not have food security, till when we can continue like this we need to fight for their rights.
