why has the 82 30'E being selected as the standard merdian of india?

82^.30′E is the sandard meridian of indua because it passes through Mirzapur in Uttar pradesh and divides india in almost two eqaual parts and as we know that standard time of a country is the meridian which divides the country in two halves
