Dams are the cause of large scale displacement of the local people who often have to give up their land , resources and livelihood for the betterment of the nation . The government often fails to provide rehabilitation facility to them and this gives a rise to the movement like the Narmada Bachao movement ( NBA).

⭐ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS⭐

Dams submerge the existing plants and all vegetation and over a time these plants decompose which gives rise to methane . Methane causes global warming.


⭐ECONOMIC PROBLEMS⭐

Dams swallow a huge amount of public money in the form of inputs and investments . But very often they fail to the provide the expected advantages .
