Why has the land under forest not increased much since 1960-61 answer in simple word?

Due to land requirement for construction works.....Need of agricultural produce led to increase in agricultural land.....This led to decline in forest land....

As we are becoming more modern day by day,we are constantly harming our surrounding's nature.

The forest land of the India is not increased much since 1960 because;

1) increase of land need for Industrial and agricultural uses

2) increase the need of forest resources

3) not preserving the forest regions in a good manner
