Answer:

Democracy works where the literacy rate is quite high, which was not there since independence, & is still lacking. In my opinion, as all the wrong types of persons have made it to be law makers, whether it be central or state legislators, democracy was not the answer for the development of India.

In fact, India didn't deserve independence nor democracy in 1947.

For.e.g.take the examples of Russia & China, where there is no democracy & Russia got developed by the strong iron hand of Joseph Stalin & China through Mao.

U.S. from the begining had all the most able persons, technicians, technocrats, scientists, hard workers from European countries who had migrated to the new land, & hence democracy succeeded. The same goes for say Australia, Japan, Israel, France etc.

India is too vast a country, with 127 crores of people, & almost all the law makers doesn't have any experience of PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION or even the essential qualifications to run the affairs of the states & the country.

That's why in India, democracy is still limping.

Answer:

Because in democracy any illiterate man can become PM Or CM. there is no eligibility.

in India 40% MLAs have criminal cases pending against them. why?? because Indian democracy allows anyone whether he is a rioter, criminal, rapist or a gangster to become MLA, MP, Minister or even PM.

True democracy is very hard to achieve and democracy works when people are educated, well fed and have intelligence.

in India 90% people live below poverty line. when the voters themselvee are barely able to survive and struggle for 2 meals a day, how will they elect persons with good economic understanding???

Take example of India only.

we have CMs like Mamta Banerjee which because of vote bank protested against TATA NANO Plant. she threw TATAs out of Bengal and today West Bengal is amongst the poorest states of India by GDP per capita.

She became CM by deindustrializing Bengal.

from 2011-2021 West Bengal had one of the slowest GDP growth rates in whole India but still she won state elections in 2021 because rabble voters don't care about economy. they care about freebies. u give them ₹100 a day before elections they will happily vote for U.

There are similar examples in India like lalu yadav, nitish kumar, ashok gehlot, digvijay singh etc.

Take example of Srilanka. their president before 2019 elections announced that he will redice TAX RATES. Economists all over the world said it would be a disastrous step since government's source of revenue will decline but since srilanka is a democracy and Rajapaksa had to win next elections he announched that decision despite it being a financial disaster. Now whole world saw what happened to Srilanka in 2021 and now the same lankans which voted for Rajapaksas threw him and forced him to flee Srilanka.

In Democracy, politicians look for short term gains and dont care about economy becoz people don't care about economy.
