There has been a shift from the secondary sector to the tertiary sector as the tertiary sector provides basic services like healthcare, transportation, education, etc. and as people rely on these services there was a need for more manpower in these sectors bringing along job opportunities with high salaries. Due to this people started working in the tertiary sector.

Another reason for such a shift is because of the urbanization and globalization of the world economy.

At the initial stages of development people just felt the need to cultivate crops for food but as industrialization came along, people saw the development opportunities that would give them a better lifestyle and due to this they shifted to working in the tertiary sector.
