The Indian Constitution grants its citizens the right to elect the representative as well as be an elected representative himself or herself.
However, it feels that there are certain sections in the society who are devoid of necessary resources, education as well as contacts for contesting and winning election against others.
Therefore, it reserves the weaker sections in Lok Sabha and aseemblies.
