Why have the results of anti-poverty programmes been mixed ?
Answers
India introduced several anti-poverty programs to benefit the poor and the downtrodden but, the results of these reforms have been mixed. While it benefited a few, a larger section of the society remains unaffected some of the reasons being:
Political interference: This has been one of the major factor. While the government has setup many reforms. Clash between different government bodies and political unwillingness to compromise for the overall improvement of the country has led to mismanagement of work.
Caste System: Poverty in India is not categorized on the basis of their income, instead on the basis of caste. This has led to uneven distribution of benefits.
Awareness: A very large section of the society remains unaware of the benefits available.
Corruption: Corruption is one of the biggest factors affecting the anti-poverty programs. It’s a known fact that officers, bureaucrats and middlemen of the highest grade too are corrupted.Answer:
