why have the western slopes of the Western Ghats covered with thick forests and not the eastern slopes ?

the western slope of western ghats being on the wind ward side receives heavy rainfall .....from the arabian sea branch....so we can find thick forest in the western slope where as the eastern slope being in the lee ward side doesn't experiences heavy rainfall..so it doesn't have much forest coverĀ

The Western slopes of the Western Ghats are covered with the thick Tropical Evergreen forests as they lie on the windward side. They receive rainfall from the South West monsoon.The monsoon currents originate in the Arabian Sea bringing heavy rainfall to the Western Ghats while the Eastern Ghats lie in the Lee ward side.
