Why HCl dissolve in toluene does not conduct electricity while HCl gas dissolve in water conduct electricity?

HCl gas dissolved in toluene does.not conduct electricity while HCl gas dissolved in water conducts electricity. ... Toluene is a non polar organic solvent. Toluene do not ionises HCl to form ions. The solution which contains free ions can conduct electricity.

This happens because when HCl is dissolved in water positive and negative ions are formed which can conduct electricity but when HCl is dissolved in toluene ions are not formed thus it does not conduct electricity
