why heart of fishes are called venous heart???????

fishes hve 2 chambered heart through which blood passes after travelling through body..it just pumps the blood towards gills where it is oxygenated then taken to blood and then returns to heart again...therefore only deoxygenated blood passes through heart..so heart of fishes is called venous heart

Hi friend,

Fishes heart called venous heart because as it only receives blood from venis and pump it directly to the gills for oxygenation. In fishes heart blood passes only once in one complete circuit. This type of blood circulation is known as single circulation and heart is known as a circuit heart...i hope it helps you
