So basically heat is total sum of kinetic and potential energy of molecules or atom of a object so if you add other substance heat energy can add for example if a object heat energy is x and other is y so total will be x+y (total pe and ke) whereas absolute temp. is directly proportionate to avg.
Kinetic energy so avg will here take role for example a object avg. Ke is k and others avg. Ke is o so avg ke will be (k+o)/2 hence temp of new thing will be proportionate to (k+o)/2 not k+o
