helium despite having the configuration 1s2 ,is closely related to the noble gases.

According to modern periodic law the elements with similar properties are placed in the same group.

since all the other noble gases are placed in the p block,it is right to place He in p block

Helium is having electronic configuration 1s² that is a configuration of s block element then it should be kept in s block. But it is not placed because of its properties only those match with inert gases. Helium is gas like other inert gases unlike solid s block metals.
