You must have heard the concept if utility the satisfaction varies with the amount of consumption that too negatively.
So first consumption brings greater satisfaction right, after that you will get lesser satisfaction so the slope starts from the higher point and gets negative after each consumption.
Technically This means that an indifference curve is negatively sloped. It slopes downward because as the consumer increases the consumption of X commodity, he has to give up certain units of Y commodity in order to maintain the same level of satisfaction.
I will give you an example "On a hot day you enter a shop and drink one glass of cold juice, that'll give you satisfaction then after that another glass of the same juice will give you lesser satisfaction, moreover third glass will give further less satisfaction, so you can see with increase in consumption the satisfaction factor is decreasing! That means the slope will be negative and Higher Satisfaction will be at higher point
