Because, The Himalayas are extended from north of India to its eastern most part of India. Since, in India's eastern part contains many peaks of Himalayas.The eastern Himalayas comprise the tracts of the Darjeeling or North Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, eastern Bhutan. So, Himalayas are known as eastern edge of India.
