Why HNO3 does not evolve H2 gas with metal??

HNO3 DOESN'T EVOLVE HYDROGEN GAS ON REACTION WITH METALS BECAUSE,NITRIC ACID IS A STRONG OXIDISING AGENT AND OXIDISES THE HYDROGEN EVOLVED TO WATER AND ITSELF IS REDUCED TO NITROGEN OXIDE(NO,N2O,NO2).

EXCEPTIONS:
MANGANESE AND MAGNESIUM ON REACTION WITH HNO3 IT EVOLVES HYDROGEN GAS
