Why human blood is not used in the preparation of blood agar?

That study demonstrated that HuBA was inferior to defibrinated horse and sheep blood agar. It is not clear why HuBA is inferior to agar with other animal blood. The lack of hemolysis on human blood agar may be due to the age of the red cells in the expired human blood or some other factor.
