Answer:

Explanation:

Human development varies in different parts of the world

  • There are spatial differences in human development across the world and also among various regions in India. These differences stem from the reason that there are inequalities in literacy, Life expectancy, and per capita income among the people of such regions.
  • The main reasons for such the differences are -
  • History of a region -
  • History of any country plays a prominent role in shaping the present. European countries with early industrialization, modern thinking, education prospered much early when other countries in the world were suffering under colonial rule and were living in the past. Hence we can see a stark difference between the HDI of European and colonial Asian countries.
  • In the Indian context, the tribal areas like Arunachal, Jharkhand, Nagaland, etc. had a history of survival in isolation and hence alienated from the mainstream and had left behind in literacy, health care, and economic prosperity.
  • Political system-
  • Democratic or stable and just political system which laid the foundation of the developmental politics contributed towards the human development. We see how the unstable and ethnic political system had led to the civil war in many African countries, in such cases, human development goes for a toss.
  • In the Indian context also, the Naxal hit regions like the Jharkhand, Orissa, Chattisgarh have poor economic development. Militant hit J&K fare no better.
  • Geography of the region-
  • Regions where the climate is not favourable also had been left behind in the development process like the sub-Saharan African countries, countries around the equator with amazon forests, frequent flood-affected regions etc. People find marginal opportunities for survival in such regions.
  • In the Indian context, North-East states in the east have dense forests and Rajasthan in the west have an arid climate which limits the economic growth of the region.
