The human heart has four chambers to aid in the transfer blood to and from the lungs and the rest of the body. The lungs serve a dual purpose. They provide oxygen to the blood supply and they remove carbon dioxide from the blood supply. Deoxygenated blood enters the right atria where it is pumped into the right ventricle. Atria are on the top side of the heart and ventricles are on the bottom side of the heart. The heart pumps the blood from the right ventricle to the lungs. The left atria temporarily stores blood that has been oxygenated in the lungs. The heart pumps it into the left ventricle where it then gets pumped out to circulate around the body.....................
