Animals feed on other organisms and feed their infants and have the ability to move and respond to the external stimuli. And Animals which give birth to young ones and feed milk from Mammary Glands are called Mammals,in essence, the belongs to Mammalian group. These characteristics perfectly matches with the normal Homo sapiens. That's why, we are saying HUMANS are ANIMALS biologically.

Because we Homosapiens evolved from a family called great ape. Sipanzee and beboon s are our distant relative (actually not so distant). So if a sipanzee is an animal we are animal too as we are member of same family.
