Hydrogen gas is always evolved when metals reacts with any acid ( includes nitric acid) because all acids have an H+ ion in them and this has been stated in the Arrhenius theory

Answer:

Nitric acid is a powerful oxidizing agent. It oxidizes the hydrogen to form water and itself gets reduced to oxides of nitrogen.
