The longest side in a right angled triangle is the hypotenuse.

PROOF:

According to property the longest side of a triangle lies opposite to the largest angle.

In a right angled triangle, one of the angle is 90 and the sum of the other two angles is equal to 90, thus the other two angles less than 90. (The sum of all three angles is 180).

Therefore, 90 is the largest angle. The side opposite 90 is the hypotenuse. Thus the hypotenuse is the longest side.

in any triangle , the side opposite to the larger angle is longer .
Therefore, AC isthe largest side in triangle ABC.However, AC is the hypotenuse of triangle ABC.Therefore hypotenuse is the longest side of right angle triangle.
