The ice floats on water because the density of the ice is less then that of water

Answer:

Ice's density is lesser than water so it floats on water.

                           Because

Ice has a density of 0.917 g/cm³ while water has a density of 2.17 g/cm³ so ice floats on water.

                                      So

The water displaced by ice when it is dispersed in water, it displaces water lesser than its weight hence, it floats.
