why ice floats on water??????

it is because the density of ice is lesser than water.when water starts cooling it starts reducing its density.it is because of the bizzarre property of water

when freezing ice ,molecules of oxygen gets deposited inside the ice crystals and the molecules try to float since air is lite than water.
