〽↖↖Actually welcome to the concept of the Anomalous behaviour of water. ..
〽↖Basically it's true that Solids have more density than liquids ...
〽↖↖But actually. ..in case of liquid like water .....
〽↖↖Ice floats in the water because of the PHENOMENON OF THE HYDROGEN BONDING ....
〽↖⤵⤵Basically when the ice is formed ..the H20 molecules come closer to each other and form bonds ...but due to the partial polarity of the OXYGEN ATOM AND THE HYDROGEN ATOM ...they form a special bonding between them ....that is the Hydrogen bonding .....DUE TO WHICH. ....WHEN THE BONDS FORM...THERE IS LOTS OF SPACE LEFT IN BETWEEN THE BONDING MOLECULES. ..DUE TO WHICH THE AIR GETS TRAPPED IN THE VOIDS OF IT ...AND ...
〽↖↖⤵thus the due to lots of air in the space ,....the ice becomes lighter and starts floating on water due to the lower density and lightness .....
