Why id ph of gastric juices released during digestion?

Hcl of high Ph is released during digestion due to the Following reasons:

i) It converts pepsinogen (unuseful form of gastric juice)to pepsin.

ii) Kills some of the bacteria present in food.

➡️The pH of gastric juice secreted by the oxyntic or parietal cells in the stomach is acidic in nature because in the stomach the protein digesting enzymes like like pepsin is not work in basic medium.
