Why?
if the soil is not loosened and turned, the roots of growing crops cannot penetrate the soil.
• The nutrients in the soil are easily accessible to plants if the soil is turned and loosened.
The loosened soil promotes the growth of microbes and earthworms, which help in the better growth
of plants
How?
There are different implements used to prepare the soil. A plough or a hoe is a tool that can be pulled by
animals like oxen, bulls, or horses, to prepare the field.
Nowadays, machinery like a cultivator is used to prepare the soil. It can prepare large fields in a very short
time and is more efficient than using ploughs and animals.
