EIS Spectroscopy. EIS measures changes in impedance in an electrochemical system after a small sinusoidal potential (or current) of fixed frequency is applied (Retter and Lohse, 2005). The impedance is simply a measure of the ability of a circuit to resist the flow of electrical current.
