Why In 1977 fought opposition slogan 'save democracy

This particular slogan was brought into wide use as, the then ruling party which was Indian National Congress, was ruling the country from the past 30 years.

They believed that they had been manipulating the results and also the country now needed a better ruler to break the family politics.

Hence the Janta party devised and spread this slogan.
