why in direct proportion we write x1/y1=y2/y2 Please explain properly​

Answer:

In Direct Proportion, the quotient of two quantities remains constant. If the two quantities are x and y, we write x/y = k or x = ky, where k is a constant. Hence, x1/y1 = x2/y2.
