Why in para 60 they talked about albatross(ancient mariner) ??plz explain ques from the snake..??

The port mention albatross in para 60 because his action and the action of the ancient mariner are almost similar.the old mariner liked and admired the albatross yet he killed it.in the same way the poet honoured the snake yet he threw a log of wood at it
