why in the name of spider - man there using a hyphen in between the spider and man?

Spider-Man’s name has a hyphen because Stan Lee, who created the comic character with Steve Ditko, apparently wanted to distinguish him from Superman.

It does not have a specific reason. You can think that it may be bcz "spider" is like an adjective to the "man". It isnt really necessary to add that hyphen.
