Indentured Labour is a system of bonded labour that came to existence after the abolition of slavery. British government recruited bonded labours from India to work under a contract (much like slavery for stipulated period). British government recruited people from India to work in their sugar, cotton and tea plantations in West Indies and Africa.
Some of the reasons behind why Indians migrated to other British colonies via indentured labour policies are mentioned below

- Hatred on community and gender discrimination.
- Poverty
- They are good in plantation works.
Even though they migrated to other British colonies they got some chances for preserving their culture and hereditary by communicating in their mother tang, celebrating festivals.
