83°39'E has been adopted by India as the Standard time because it passes exactly through the centre of the country.
There is a time lag of 2 hrs between Gujarat in the west and Arrunachal Pradesh in the East.
So to also avoid the problem of data sharing and other imp things, it has been selected as the standard time
