Hey mate
Ur answer is
I am not an authority on this subject but some food for thought here:
Voice of minority, even though significant in number, will get shadowed by voice of majority, by sheer numbers. How do the minority then influence policy formation or administration when they are actually entitled to do so by the principles of democracy? In most cases, decisions of the government do not favor common people but only few business houses or individuals. Case in point - India handed off its offshore oil assets to RIL for free and public sector companies are paying international market price to buy it back.If India is a genuine democracy, we wouldn't exist as one country today. Fact is that post partition when Gandhi and Nehru were hamming about Non-violence, Sardar Patel was using coercive diplomacy and Indian Army to ensure the princely states join India. Had it been left to people to decide, may be a lot of these states would decided not to join India. It is not possible for any individual without significant means to challenge the incumbent political class. The whole system is rigged to ensure a new comer is made uncomfortable and quits. Look at the different ways in which AAP and Kejriwal have been harassed recently. As a society, we only respect winners and people who fight bravely but lose are made fun of or harassed for a lifetime. In most cases, when a family member of big politician fights an election, he usually wins unopposed because the political fraternity considers it an insult for anyone to stand against him.
