The Himalayas prevent the cold winds from Central Asia from entering the subcontinent. It is because of these mountains that this subcontinent experiences comparatively milder winters as compared to central Asia.

India experiences less cold than central Asia because-
• The India is mostly situated in the tropic zone which generally faces less amount of winter on the other hand the central Asia is less situated in the tropic zone.
• The Northern Himalayan mountains obstruct the cold breezes coming from the northern direction.
• The tropic of cancer went through the India.
