Answer:

Though India became a free nation on August 15, 1947, it declared itself a Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state with the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950. The Constitution gave the citizens of India the power to choose their own government and paved the way for democracy.

Answer:

HEY MATE IT IS YOUR DETAILED ANS

IF YOU LIKE IT MARK IT BRAINEST

Explanation:

Why is India called a republic state?

India is not called a “Republican state”.

india’s form of goverenment is “democratic republic” and its official name is “ Republic of India”. Actually the complete description, if at all there is a technical way to describe India’s democracy, that comes closest is “Federal constitutional parliamentary socialist republic” (yes — “socialist!”)

By the way USA’s form of governance is described technically as “ Fedreral constitutional presidential republic”. Does not make it a “Republican state” either.

From Wikipedia;

Common definitions of the terms democracy and republic often feature overlapping concerns, suggesting that many democracies function as republics, and many republics operate on democratic principles, as shown by these definitions from the Oxford dictionary online:

Republic: "A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives..."

Democracy: "A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives."

Hope this helps. I do hope the question was not a tongue in cheek reference to a relatively right wing government in power right now?
