Hello All,
Why India called a subcontinent.
Since ancient time in Vedas (Maharishi vyasa wrote) ( If we take Ramayana or Mahabharata as a time period) we can see descriptions or meaning of various land types and various water bodies (samudra= Sea, Maha samudra = oceans)
In these ancients Text is mentioned
“ Jambhu dweepe Bharatha Kande”
Dweepam means Island
Bharatha kande means BHARAT as CONTINENT
Since BC (percent time line which world speak) India (Bharat) was not a single country IT was multi states kingdoms which ruled by CHAKRAVARTHI’S with the help of SAMANTHA RAJYAS (Ahoka, Vikramaditya, Chandra Gupta, Porus, Chola, Kakatiya) or INDIVIDUAL KINGS with small size countries (Rajputs, Chalukyas, Mouryas, Vijayanagar, Maratas).
If we take RAMAYANA as a time line (depends on SETU OR ADAM BRIDGE) The Ramayana has spread to many Asian countries outside of India, including Burma, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Nepal,Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia and Vietnam.
If we take Mahabharata as a time line
I personally read some history e-book says “ Even Arabian countries are also ruled by some of Indian (Bharat) kings Before Christ.
If you see some of the these countries old history there you can see Religious and VERY RARE RICH CULTURE which have a connection of ancient India (Bharat) some of archaeology finding never can see even in India because of Moghul Invaders and British rule.
Even before Moghul and British rulers India (Bharat) was not a single country
East start with Rangoon (Burma) Cambodia
West Till Afghanistan (Ghandara desham) including “Pakistan”(THERE WAS NO PAKISTAN till 1947)
from North Kashmir (it was a separate kingdom with Hindus because we do not have Muslims in INDIA before crusaders and Moghul invaders ) including Nepal, Bhutan and even Tibet (Buddhism also part of Bharat and Hindu)
South till Srilanka
Religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism are based in India
These many kingdoms were there in Bharatha Kandam (India) since ancient times till 1900–1947 because of this it (may) was called INDIAN SUBCONTINENT by western countries.
