Why India is called as a secular country.

India is secular country as the world 'secular' was added in the preamble by the 42nd Amendment Act . Secularism means that -

* the state protects all religion equally.
*there is no discrimination based on one's religion
*individuals have the freedom to profess , practise and spread their respective religions.
