India is called the land of villages because the major part of India consists of villages.

In India nearly there are 5 lakh villages present throughout the country and nearly 60% of the country's population lives in the urban areas.

After independence, the urban population grew quickly as a result of the expansion of administrative and industrial services.

The villages of India can broadly be divided according to the regions of their location like the Eastern region, Northern region, Southern region, Central region, Northeast region, and Western region.  

The villages of India can be roughly categorized into the Eastern, Northern, Southern, Central, Northeast, and Western regions, depending on where they are located each village region uses different languages which makes difference between them.
