Because no large community has ever opposed it. It was made so cautiously that Indians are satisfied by it. This remarks the success of efforts done by constituent assembly of india. Guidelines of indian constitution are based on the wishes and aspirations of people such as equality, liberty, democracy etc

The Constitution is a basically a set of rules on which a nation, organisation, etc operates and functions.

Indian Constitution is one of the longest Constitutions of the world.

And thus it has to do much more work than any other nation or governing body.
It has a responsibility of maintaining world's largest democracy, one of the most populous countries.

It was almost like having a constitution for the entire Europe. A land as diverse as ours needed a document that had derived from the collective wisdom of the entire world.

Therefore Indian constitution has taken provisions from many other constitutions of the world.

So basically Indian Constitution makers picked the best practices from all over the world and stitched them together so that it could match the social fabric of India.

All these provisions are time tested across the various social and economic setups.

----------------------------------------------------------
Moreover, changing a whole Constitution would make a lot of chaos, tension, disputes etc.
Thus we are following the same Constitution made many years ago. Changes called amendments are made from time to time to keep it updated.
