Hindustan means the land of the Indus river, the stretches from the Indus river valley and Himalayas up to the Indu Ocean (Anglicized: Indian Ocean). The people were called Indu/Hindu. The religion adopted the name since it originated among those groups. India,Hindustan and Hindu originate from the same word- Indus.
